This is the waistcoat that stood model for my own version. Denim, Childs size (and that is even a bit too wide for me) and all in all, not suited for my LARP costume, as denim is generally not accepted.
My two waistcoats. At the left I have the model again, and to the right the adapted version. It is easier to compare to the photo above however, as my left dress form is (purposefully) significantly smaller.
Whilst at it I decided to take in the seams a little, given that the clothing was too big anyways. More in size is more better right?
Ah well, when I was busy I could just as well adapt the armscyes, to prevent the chemisette I would be wearing below from sticking out. I used some cabbage to fill up the missing fabric.
Then I went back to the mock-up of the overcoat, which had been made before the lock-down. I took off the skirts and added them to this mock-up, made them to size and once again filled up the gaps allowing it to fall well. I did some fittings on myself in-between to ensure proper fit. Suddenly the entire waistcoat was more 18th century than ever was my intention and I was seriously worried about whether I bought enough fabric to pull this off.
After making this many adaptations I decided to take apart the original mock-up. I took the... most interesting... fabric from my stash, from which I was pretty sure I would never use it, and make a second mock-up, allowing myself to do some bug-fixing.
I just finished thread-marking this fabric, and should put it together soon, though I haven't had the spoons yet to start on that.
